    Vocational Counsellor Seminar- Vicenza 2013

    On 25th January 2013, Peter Beven ran a series of sessions for Italian counsellors and advisers involved with developing the international mobility of individuals. Peter was invited by an organisation called Eurocultura, which provides a range of services for individuals and businesses involved in developing  employability through the development of language skills, employment / training placements and the experience of life and work in different countries.

    Law Students Client Interviewing National Competition

    On Saturday 29th January Peter Beven and Gill Naylor were part of a panel of judges assessing interviewing skills of students studying to be lawyers and barristers. Now more than ever inter-personal skills as well as knowledge of the law is needed in order to be a successful lawyer. This prestigious competition for law students gives students an opportunity to develop and test some crucial legal skills –and network too. This is an annual competition in interviewing and counselling skills. Each law school can enter one team which is assessed in live interviews with roleplaying clients.  The winning team members receive prizes of £250 each and the winning law school receives £1000 from the Law Society of England & Wales. The team also goes forward to take part in the Brown-Mosten International Client Consultation Competition in April 2012 in Dublin.  Further details of the competition can be found by clicking here.


    Esher College: Developing Student Reviewing: 31st October 2011

    Peter Beven led a session for teachers at esher College: Developing Student Reviewing. Beginning with a basic three stage reviewing model, Peter developed ideas about enhancing the process by drawing upon insights derived from other approaches, specifically Motivational interviewing and solution focused approaches.
